How You Can Help
Ocean Recovery Alliance is a non-profit organization focused on bringing new technologies, innovation, ideas and collaborations to improve the health of our ocean. Our projects are both global and local in nature, and we welcome donations of any size in order to keep our projects alive. Our two Clinton Global Initiative commitments, aimed at reducing plastic pollution on a global level, were the first of their type which any company or country could use immediately, without the need for bans, taxes or legislative changes. These were way ahead of the world's broad awareness of plastic pollution (as they were announced in 2010), but are highly relevant today, now that people are interested in mitigating the problem, and beginning to engage in the creation of a circular economy. These projects are our Plastic Disclosure Project (PDP), and our Global Alert platform/app. Each are powerful enabling platforms which can be used by any stakeholders/institutions in any community in order to help them address, and solve, some of the local issues that might exist vis-a-vis plastic waste. We also founded and run one of the only business conferences, which solely focuses on innovations and solutions for plastic in its 2nd life, so there is no waste footprint, the Plasticity Forum. This was first launched at the Rio+20 Earth Summit, and has been held in 13 global cities since then, with the latest having been with United Nations Environment (UNEP) and their Sea of Solutions Conference in Bangkok, 2019.
We are a member of Benevity, and 1% for the Planet, and you can support the Ocean Recovery Alliance in several ways – by spreading the word on what we are doing, by offering your technologies, knowhow or ideas, and of course, by providing financial support for our efforts. Ocean Recovery Alliance is a registered 501c3 in the United States, and a registered charitable organization in Hong Kong under Section 88. Our 990 is available here, but please note that all of our operations are initiated and run out of Hong Kong where we can make a bigger difference in the world with countries in all regions which have fewer capacities and infrastructure than some countries in the developed world. As such, our 990 numbers are not high, because our funding efforts and collaborators are mainly working with us in other locations. We would be happy to discuss our programs and successful donation history over the past 15 years if interested.
Send us a note - we'd be happy to see how we can collaborate, as we have many touch-points with community, education, science, companies, governments and innovations. info@oceanrecov.org
